==History==
The gallery building was initially built before the World War II as a government office. In 2007, Macau Chief Executive Edmund Ho paid an official visit to Malacca. Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam then invited the Macau SAR government to set up a gallery to promote its tourism and culture in one of the historical building in Malacca. In 2009, the Macau SAR Government and Malacca Government agreed on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the management of the heritage building with the purpose of transforming the property into a centre of promotion and exhibition of the culture and arts of Macau.
